HSLC Paper Leak: 13 Teachers Given Overwatch Duty

GUWAHATI: In a development after the HSLC paper leak case, a few teachers from different parts of the state have been assigned to carry out tasks at their local police stations while receiving packets of question papers for the centre in charge of the exam.

The teachers are responsible for making sure that the quantity of question paper packets issued from the SEBA Office matches the number of packets accessible at the police stations; the specifics are with the Center-in-Charge itself.

The teachers and the centre-in-charge must both make sure that each packet of Question Papers' seal is unbroken.

"The following teachers are hereby nominated and assigned to perform duties in the respective Police Station or Police Out Post and will be present at the time of receiving the question paper packets kept in the Police Station or Police Out Post by the centre-in-charge of the examination centre," an order issued by the officer of the inspector of schools stated.

It said, "The nominated teachers shall not be involved in other activities connected to the administration of the examination."

The directive also provided some guidance for the exams that had to be rescheduled as a result of the mishaps. The centre-in-charge must make sure that the candidates are frisked properly.

The centre in charge must select workers to help the police officers stationed in frisking candidates, as was done during the previous exam. Each room of the exam centre will have at least two invigilators assigned by the centre in charge.

More invigilators must be appointed as necessary when there are more candidates. In order to prevent applicants from engaging in any malpractice, the invigilators will be on guard throughout the exam rooms, and they will take appropriate action against anyone caught engaging in malpractice.

When necessary, steps can be taken to limit any interference from outside sources with the help of the police officers stationed at the centre.
